The SBI is checking into allegations that employees with the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School system violated state laws by NOT reporting potential criminal violations in a timely manner. The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school board voted to suspend Drew Davis, the school system's lawyer, pending the results of the investigation. The first cases of seasonal influenza in the state have been confirmed. The North Carolina Division of Public Health reporting that two children from Durham County have the flu. (journalmow.com)

This summer was THE warmest summer on record at Piedmont Triad International Airport. According to the National Weather Service, the average temperature in June, July and August was 80.1 degrees. Psychologists in England say they've identified specific dance moves that make men more attractive to women. In fact, Northumbria University psychologists in North England say, it's the left wrist and the right knee, as well as the head and the trunk that women often notice while dancing. These movements show how healthy, vigorous and strong a man is. The findings published in the Royal Society journal "Biology Letters."

Name change for one local restaurant. The Texas Land & Cattle Steak House off Hanes Mall Boulevard is being turned into a Lone Star Steakhouse. Both chains are owned by Lone Star. The TLC in Winston-Salem is closed for remodeling…and should reopen as a Lone Star on September 23rd. (journalnow.com)

“No screaming children, please?” The owner of the Olde Salty restaurant at Carolina Beach has posted a sign on the store window that reads "Screaming children will not be tolerated." Brenda Armes, telling WECT-TV that she was tired of having customers complain about misbehaving and screaming children inside the restaurant. The owner of the restaurant says the signs have worked. Here’s the deal: If a child is screaming, a restaurant employee will ask the parent to take the ‘up-set’ child outside to calm down. Even in the face of death threats and public outcry, Pastor Terry Jones says he intends to go ahead with burning copies of the Quran this Saturday, the 9th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks. Jones is the pastor of the 50-member Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida. Another fire station in High Point has ‘mold’. Building maintenance workers found mold growing above the ceiling at fire station number 13 in High Point. The ceiling tiles will be replaced and the building scrubbed once crews finish cleaning Fire Station 12 on Barrow Road.
Officials said they are not sure what is causing the mold.

A break in a sewer pipe is being blamed after thousands of gallons of wastewater that spilled into Randleman Lake last week. Officials said a pipe that carries untreated wastewater to High Point's eastside wastewater treatment plant snapped causing over 300,000 gallons of untreated wastewater to spill into the Deep River, which flows into Randleman Lake.
