No Credit Card, No iPad: A woman was recently told at an Apple Store that her $600 in U.S. currency was no good for buying an iPad. According to Apple, customers must use a credit card or a debit card to purchase the iPad. The store wouldn't allow the woman to buy the iPad with her cash. The woman in question is disabled, lives on a limited income, and doesn't have a credit card. Apparently, Apple has an official policy in place for purchasing the iPad. A credit card is required, there is a limit of two per person, and you can't use a gift card, either. The reasoning has something to do with Apple's intent to block ‘black market’ sales of its popular device.

Interesting story: A driving jacket worn by legendary driver Fireball Roberts during the 1964 season came from Roberts' fiancé. They were to have been married, but Roberts was severely injured in a fiery crash in the World 600 at Charlotte in 1964 and died later that summer. After Roberts died, his fiancé stored his racing jacket. For a time, she would retrieve it every so often because she could still smell Roberts' scent from the jacket. When the scent faded, she boxed the jacket until a few years ago. FYI: Stuck in the jacket's pockets were a cigarette lighter, Roberts' signed NASCAR credential and a race ticket from 1964.

Results from Tuesday’s Primary Races in North Carolina (State Board of Elections)
http://results.enr.clarityelections.com/NC/15705/24367/en/summary.html

Republican Sheriff’s race in Davidson County
Sheriff David Grice defeated former sheriff Gerald Hege and former highway patrolman Terry Price, receiving 61% of the vote in Tuesday's Primary.
Grice will face Democrat Tommy Evans, Jr. in the November election.

In Forsyth County
Forsyth County Sheriff Bill Schatzman beat his former chief deputy Dave Griffith. Schatzman won with 54% of the vote.

In Guilford County
Sheriff B.J. Barnes easily defeated his Republican primary opponent with 91%
of the vote. The Democratic race was much closer between Phil Wadsworth and C.B. Goins and appears to be heading to a runoff.

U.S. Senate
Republican Sen. Richard Burr won with 80% of the vote.
On the Democratic side: None of the candidates received 40% of the vote required to avoid a two-person runoff, so Secretary of State Elaine Marshall and former state senator Cal Cunningham will compete in a runoff election in June.

U.S. House
Republican Rep. Howard Coble won with 64% of the vote. His closest challenger, Guilford County Commissioner Billy Yow, received 16% of the vote.

A few incumbents appeared to have lost their primary races. Incumbent Democrat Earl Jones lost his primary to Marcus Brandon for the NC House District 60 seat. Also, incumbent Garth Hebert appears to have lost to Ed Price for Guilford School Board, District 2.

Voters in the area also addressed alcohol referendums. In Stoneville, the ABC Store referendum passed by 7 votes, while the mixed drink referendum narrowly failed by two votes. Voters in Caswell County passed their mixed drink referendum with 62 percent voting in favor.
