AUTHORITIES HAVE FOUND FIREARMS AND BOOKS ON ATHEISM AND DEMON POSSESSION IN THE HOME OF A SUSPECTED CHURCH ARSONIST. Search warrants suggest that investigators began collecting all sorts of evidence a few weeks after the first of ten church fires around Tyler, Texas. After several of the fires, they also gathered D-N-A samples from bricks and rocks used to break into the churches. After getting search warrants for the suspects' homes, local police and federal agents found books with titles like Demon Possession and The Atheist's Way, according to the Dallas Morning News. So far, investigators say neither 19-year-old Jason Bourque nor 21-year-old Daniel George McAllister is saying why they were targeting churches. The men were charged with a single count of arson involving a house of worship, a crime punishable by five to 99 years in prison. But authorities say more charges will soon be filed against the two men in ten church fires and three church break-ins.

Forsyth County will move forward with the prayer appeal. The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners voted 4 - 3 to move forward with an appeal on a Federal Judge's ban on sectarian prayer. Chairman David Plyler was the deciding vote. Vice Chair Debra Conrad read the Resolution to appeal and Gloria Whisenhunt second the motion. Chairman Dave Plyler did stress that ‘sectarian prayer’ would not be allowed at the beginning of county meetings during the appeal which could take 3 to 5 years. The NC Partnership for Religious Liberty pledged at least $300,000 dollars on Monday to help cover legal costs that Forsyth county could be hit with a possible loss in the appeal.
-Michael Johnson, with the Alliance Defense Fund who is defending the county in the case, said that the case could likely go all the way to the US Supreme Court.
-Note: A federal magistrate ruled on January 28 that the use of sectarian prayer (or prayer to a specific deity including Jesus Christ) at public meetings violates the First Amendment, deeming the open prayers unconstitutional.

Eight of the ten American missionaries detained in Haiti for the past three weeks on suspicion of child abduction were finally released and arrived in Miami early Thursday morning. Two Americans, however, still remain in Haiti for further questioning. The eight Americans are part of the ten-member U.S. team that was arrested Jan. 29 by Haitian authorities while trying to transport 33 Haitian children to the Dominican Republic by bus. They say they wanted to take the children to an orphanage and care for them after a 7.0-magnitude quake devastated Port-au-Prince. Haitian authorities, however, say the group did not receive government permission to take the children out of the country.
