First the recall from Toyota about sticky gas pedals. Good news: Parts are starting to arrive at local dealerships in the Triad to fix the gas pedal problems.
Now, MORE BAD NEWS FOR TOYOTA: U.S. and Japanese authorities have received complaints from Prius owners about the Hybrid’s…anti-lock brake system.
Toyota saying yesterday that design problems with the antilock brake system and corrected them for Prius models sold since late January, but the company said it was still investigating how to inform customers who had bought them earlier.

The Hefner Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salisbury has big plans for part of the old Steve and Barry’s location at the Marketplace Mall.

SENATOR-ELECT SCOTT BROWN WILL BE SWORN INTO OFFICE THIS AFTERNOON.
The successor to the late Senator Ted Kennedy will officially give the Republicans 41 seats in the Senate, plus end the Democrats' super majority in the Senate.

CALIFORNIANS ARE NOW WAITING FOR A DECISION IN THE PROPOSITION 8 MARRIAGE COURT CASE. In 2008, Californians voted in favor of Proposition 8, which defined marriage as between one man and one woman in the California Constitution. The vote was contested. Now that arguments have been presented, the federal judge will take time to examine the evidence in the trial…with closing arguments expected in March or April. Many legal experts expect the trial could make its way to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The tip-off to police: the sunglasses on a mannequin? One New Yorker faces a $135 dollar traffic fine for using a mannequin as her "plus one" in the high-occupancy vehicle lane of the Long Island Expressway. An alert sheriff's deputy on Long Island became suspicious this week when he saw the "passenger" wearing sunglasses and using the visor. The problem: The sky was overcast.
