One local church in Thomasville will help you ‘save’ at the gas pumps this Saturday. Hillside Park Baptist Church is sponsoring a "Gas Relief Day" this Saturday (June 4) at Gordon's General Store on Johnsontown Road in Thomasville. The church will pay .15 cents for every gallon of gas purchased between 10am and 2pm at Gordon’ General Store. Cash only please.  Church officials hope to make this an annual event.
Location: Gordon’s General Store is located at the intersection of Johnsontown and Emanuel Church roads, about a mile down the road from Brown Middle and East Davidson High schools.


The water play area at Bolton Pool in Winston-Salem should be open on Saturday. Both Bolton and Kimberley Park pools did not open last weekend because of a recall of the drain covers used in the play areas. (News 2)


There have been at least six cases of rabies reported this year in Davidson County. On Saturday, the Davidson County Health Department is sponsoring a rabies clinic from 2 to 4pm at South Davidson High School. Shots will be $5 dollars.

"No English, No Service" Restaurant in Reedy Creek community is closed. Chef Greg Simons, at Reedy Creek Family Diner, telling Fox 8 that he closed his restaurant this week because of his mother's declining health, saying "it's more than I can deal with. Whether at this location or at another location, I hope to re-open the restaurant one day," Simons said on Thursday. Back in March, the local restaurant gained international attention over its "No English, No Service" sign. Simons said the closure has nothing to do with the sign controversy.



Recall: Allison's Gourmet Kitchens, an Oklahoma-based food company, is recalling some of its chicken salad due to mislabeling. The company is recalling the food because the packaging does not list some ingredients. (potassium sorbate and/or sodium benzoate).  The chicken salad was sold in several states including North Carolina and Virginia. The use-by dates on the packages range from May 27, 2011 to June 29, 2011.


If you live in Guilford County, your property taxes are going up 4 and a half percent. If you live in a home valued at $100,000 dollars, you will pay $45 dollars more in property taxes. NO property tax increases in Forsyth County. State lawmakers could have a budget bill on the Governor’s desk by this weekend.

One of the biggest comebacks in NBA history last night. The Dallas Mavericks capitalized on a 22 to 5 run to even things up against the Miami Heat in Game Two of the NBA Finals…95 – 93.

NASCAR: Racing at Kansas Speedway on Sunday.
FYI: Kyle and Patty Petty have chosen a 65 acre site not far from Kansas Speedway for a NEW camp for chronically ill children. At least part of Victory Junction ‘Midwest’ Camp should be open by 2014.


A vehicle crashed into the Apple Store at Friendly Center in Greensboro early Friday morning.  According to Fox 8, a man drove his Honda Accord into the Apple store in an attempted robbery. A security guard reportedly said that the suspect fled on foot wearing a white ninja suit.
Police are still investigating.

Watch your speed:  Both directions of Highway 52 coming into downtown Winston-Salem. The speed limit has been reduced from 55 mph to 45mph.
NO ‘Shakespeare performance’ this fall in High Point with the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival?   ‘Twelfth Night’ has been canceled for the fall due to expected budget cuts from the state. BTW: The annual production of “A Christmas Carol” will run as planned. http://www.ncshakes.org/
