Ford is recalling more than a million trucks, vans and SUV’s. The company saying that the recall has to do with a speed control switch that can corrode and cause an engine fire.
The recall includes: Ford Super Duty Trucks, Econoline vans, Excursions, Plus Ford Explorers and Mountaineers. (AP)
Earlier in the week, Chrysler said that it is recalling more than 800,000 Jeep Liberty sport utility vehicles (model years 2002-2006) because of the potential loss of steering control. (Yahoo! News-The Associated Press)
Tropical Storm Chris appears to loosing stream as it nears Cuba.
Winds are down to 40 mph. The forecast track takes Chris well south of Florida.
Heavy rains and flooding is possible in parts of Cuba, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Chris is the third named storm of the 2006 Atlantic Hurricane Season. (weather.com)
AOL will be eliminating 5,000 jobs…that’s over a quarter it’s workforce. All part of a restructuring plan. The jobs will be cut over a 6 month period. (CNN)
The Senate has rejected the first minimum wage increase in nearly a decade. The proposal fell four votes short. The Senate is now on a four-week summer break. (AP)
Parents with kids enrolled at Imani Institute Charter Middle School are having to make some quick decisions…The State Board of Education voted Thursday to revoke the school's charter.The school has not turned in financial audits for the past four years. Some parents are toying with the option of sending kids to public school, private schools or even homeschooling.
The Guilford County School System starts on August 25.
