Black Friday…Lots of early risers heading to area shopping centers this morning. Retailers expecting an above average shopping season over the next 4 weeks.

All of the rain and wind from mid week has cleared out of the way…but flooding is still a possibility in the mountain counties. Some rivers and streams could ‘crest’ over the weekend.

A Thanksgiving Day earthquake rattled parts of Hawaii on Thursday.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said the quake hit off the coast of the Big Island. Some power outages were reported, but there's no word on other damages or any injuries. Two bigger quakes hit Hawaii last month, causing power outages, bridge collapses, landslides and road closures. (AP)

More deadly violence in Iraq: The reported death toll in the Sadr City attacks…now more than 200. 250 were injured in the latest attacks.

Planning to get that REAL Christmas tree today? The weekend after Thanksgiving is traditionally the busiest for North Carolina’s Christmas tree industry. The North Carolina Christmas Tree Association saying that the 1,600 North Carolina tree growers produce about 50 million Fraser fir trees annually.

Greeting card helps nab bank robber:
Gregory Edward Stacey is in the Forsyth County Jail, facing charges of robbing two banks late last month. Investigators said that his fingerprints on a greeting card help identify Stacey as the crook. Stacey approached tellers at an area bank, who invited him to fill out a holiday card that would be mailed to troops in Iraq. After he filled out the card…he pulled a gun and demanded money. Investigators said he left the card behind when he took the cash and fled.
Stacey turned himself in after police publicized his name and photograph.
