National Weather Service saying that ALL of Central North Carolina (including the Triad) is under A Flood Watch and A Wind Advisory until 7pm this evening

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A
FLOOD WARNING FOR URBAN AREAS AND SMALL STREAMS IN...
FORSYTH, GUILFORD, DAVIDSON AND RANDOLPH COUNTIES UNTIL 5:45 PM.

* SOME OF THE LOCATIONS THREATENED WITH FLOODING INCLUDE WINSTON-SALEM... GREENSBORO...LEXINGTON...ASHEBORO...AND BURLINGTON.

* AT 902 AM EST NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR SHOWED HEAVY
RAIN MOVING ACROSS ORANGE AND ALAMANCE COUNTIES TOWARD THE TRIAD.
CREEKS IN THE GREENSBORO AREA WERE ALREADY RUNNING HIGH DUE TO
RECENT RAINS. ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAIN COMBINED WITH RUN-OFF FROM THE
PREVIOUS RAINS WILL RESULT IN FLOODING ESPECIALLY OF URBAN AREAS
AND SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS.


-DURING HEAVY RAIN EVENTS...URBAN FLOODING CAN OCCUR IN AREAS SUCH AS
UNDERPASSES...AND LOW AREAS WHERE WATER TENDS TO COLLECT.
-DO NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN PLAY NEAR SMALL STREAMS OR FLOODED DRAINAGE DITCHES AND STORM SEWERS.
-ALSO...DUE TO GUSTY WINDS...TAKE CARE WHEN TRAVELLING AS RAIN-SOAKED GROUND COULD RESULT IN ISOLATED DOWNED TREES AND LIMBS.

What is going on? An extremely slow moving low pressure system will continue to dump lots of rain and wind onto the Carolinas and Virginia through early evening.
-Flood Warnings and High Wind Warnings are in effect for North and South Carolina Coastal areas …gusts up to 50 mph
-Watch out for standing water on the roadways.
-Scattered power outages possible through tonight
Duke Power saying that 2,000 customers are without power this morning in Guilford County. A couple hundred homes without power in Forsyth and Stokes. (1-800-POWER ON)

Kinda yucky weather on the busiest travel day of the year.
-If you are driving…be aware of watches and warnings
-If you are flying today…you may want to go on-line to check your schedule for any delays. Be patient and expect to wait at check-in. The FAA requests you arrive 2 hours before your scheduled flight.

President Bush will pardon the ‘token’ Thanksgiving Day turkey later this morning. Next week: The president will head to Jordon to talk with neighboring countries in the Middle East…about Iraq (USA Radio News)

Greensboro police detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred Tuesday night in the parking lot at the Four Seasons Mall. The victim found near the entrance to JCPenney….died a short time later after being rushed to Moses Cone Hospital. If you have any information about the shooting…call Greensboro Crime Stoppers at (336) 373-1000.

A fourth student has died from injuries she received when a school bus went off an interstate overpass Monday in Huntsville, Alabama. The school bus driver was ejected from the bus before it crashed nose first the vehicle crashed 30 feet below the Interstate 565 overpass, fatally wounding three high school students and injuring about two dozen more. Charges could be filed against a high school student who was driving a Toyota Celica which apparently came close to or struck the bus sending off the bridge. CNN

Movie Director Robert Altman has died. Best known for creating the movie and hit TV show MASH and recently…the movie adaptation of A Prairie Home Companion. Altman was 81. CNN ./ AP
