Dramatic and well planned rescue operation in Columbia on Thursday. Three American Defense Department contractors and a former Colombian presidential candidate were among 15 hostages rescued yesterday after years of captivity by leftist guerrillas. Officials have unveiled the prototype of the first U.S. coin with readable Braille characters. The new 1-ounce coin silver dollar will be available in spring 2009, the 200th anniversary of the birthday of Louis Braille…the creator of the alphabet for the blind.

Hair by any other color? She calls it burgundy, but her employer calls it outrageous.
Meyosha Love, 17, an employee at The Grande movie theatre in Winston-Salem, said she was suspended last weekend after the company said her colored hair didn't meet company dress code guidelines. Her new hairstyle is described as two-inch red tips – a clear violation of the company's policy that states hair color must be naturally occurring.
