Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center has been given the OK to build a $104 million dollar, 48 bed hospital facility in Advance. The decision ends a highly publicized battle with Forsyth Medical Center to win the construction contract. FORECASTERS ARE NOW TRACKING TWO TROPICAL STORMS. Tropical Storm Gustav and now Tropical Storm Hanna. Gustav is blamed for 68 deaths in the Caribbean mainly in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Residents along the Gulf Coast from Texas to Florida keeping an eye on Gustav.

Today is the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina . Close to 1,000 deaths in Louisiana were caused directly or indirectly by Hurricane Katrina, making it the deadliest hurricane to hit the U.S. Gulf Coast in 80 years. 80% of the 986 deaths occurred on the day of the storm -- Aug. 29, 2005. Making history in Denver: Senator Barack Obama became the first African-American to accept the presidential nomination of a major U.S. political party last night. Obama's speech last night wrapped up the Democratic National Convention. The Republican National Convention begins on Monday and runs through Thursday of next week in Minneapolis-St. Paul.
