The 'wake up' song for the crew of the space shuttle Endeavour yesterday morning was "Beautiful Day" by the band U2.   That song was sent to the crew by Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her two girls. Gifford’s husband Mark Kelly is the shuttle commander. Back in 2006, "Beautiful Day" by U2 was sent from Giffords as a wake-up call to her future husband Mark Kelly when they were just dating. But, this time the message-of-hope has a deeper meaning given her recovery from being shot in the head Jan. 8 in Arizona.
BTW: U2's Bono, who came up with the lyrics, has said the song is about a man who has lost everything but finds joy in what he still has.

(Ohio) One minister’s ‘collection’ of pencil sharpeners has a new home.  Reverend Paul Johnson’s collection of over 3,400 of pencil sharpeners was originally stored in a small shed (which he called his museum) outside his home in southeast Ohio. His collection was dedicated last Friday inside a regional Welcome Center near Carbon Hill, Ohio. Reverend Johnson started his collection after his wife gave him a few pencil sharpeners as a gift in the late 1980s. He kept them organized in categories, including cats, Christmas and Disneyland. The oldest pencil sharpener is 105 years old. BTY: Rev Johnson passed away last summer.
