Because of rain in the forecast, Wake Forest University has decided to move its commencement ceremony indoors at the Joel Coliseum this morning. Wake’s commencement ceremony started at 9:30am. FYI: A live webcast can be viewed on the Commencement website

State lawmakers are debating ways for drivers and bicyclists to better share the road. Rep. Nelson Cole (D - 65th District) has proposed a law requiring no more than two cyclists to ride side-by-side and to ride single file when a car is trying to pass. Rep. Cole, from Reidsville, says he is confident that his proposed law will pass. Officials with BP reporting that a tube inserted into the blown out oil well in the Gulf of Mexico is working "extremely well," but it doesn't know how much oil is being funneled to the surface. If technique succeeds, it will capture most of the oil gushing from well. Obama administration vows it won't rest until the company cleans up the spill and addresses its impact.

According to Davidson County Sheriff office, a 25-year-old man drowned at High Rock Lake Saturday morning. The man was with his wife and two children at the lake access area at Brown Loflin Bridge on Hwy #8 Saturday morning when he drowned around 11 a.m. The victim was from China Grove. Stash of cash found in a sock at the Goodwill in Asheville. The Asheville Citizen-Times reported that Goodwill clothing sorter Jocelyn Garnace found more than $5,000 cash in a sock wrapped up in a blanket. Goodwill officials tracked down the donor, 96-year-old Stella Hoyle, by way of her ‘Burke County Schools pay stub’ from 1975 that also was found in pile of donated items.
