If your names happen to be ‘Mary and Joseph’ there will be room for you this Christmas at Travelodge. In the true spirit of Christmas, the hotel chain (Travelodge) is opening its doors and offering couples with the names (Mary and Joseph) a free night's stay; at any one of its 322 UK hotels. (England only) The 'gift' of a free night's stay is to make up for the hotel industry not having any rooms left on Christmas Eve over 2000 years ago when the original 'Mary and Joseph' had to settle for the night in a stable. Today's Mary and Joseph will stay in a spacious Travelodge family room which can also cater for a baby and a manger. A free car-parking space will be provided for the donkey and there are plenty of rooms available for the Shepherds and Wise Men to book. To claim their free Travelodge night's stay, ‘Mary and Joseph’ just need to register their details at: Christmas@travelodge.co.uk. http://www.travelodge.co.uk/

Do you have an extra Bible or Bible reference book just lying around collecting dust? Christian Resources International has launched the ‘Operation Bare Your Bookshelf’ campaign. The ministry says that the need for Bibles is great. About 250 requests a month from pastors and volunteers in developing countries request resources. The resources include Bibles, concordances, basic reference and study materials, and other Christian books. Christian Resources International says that while most Americans own several Bibles, the average third-world village does not own a single Bible. http://www.bareyourbookshelf.com/

Up, Up and Away: On Nov. 30, hundreds of students at a school in Salt Lake City stood on their ball field, below clusters of balloons as they celebrated the life of their English teacher, Stephanie Bernritter, who recently died of leukemia. The cluster of balloons broke free and traveled more than 900 miles to a cornfield in South Dakota. "The balloons were still full of air," said Michael Beadle, who recently discovered them while deer hunting near Onaka, South Dakota.
