The Winter Storm that has shut down portions of 5 states in the mid-west is now over New England. Heavy snow warnings have been posted from southern New York and northeastern Pennsylvania to much of Southern New England. Accumulations may be in the 5 to 10-inch range.

North Carolina facing the worst drought in the state's recorded history. Governor Easley is warning people across the state if they don't take water conservation seriously…that he will. Easley said he would use his emergency powers to place a limit on the daily amount of water some communities could use.

Merck & Company has recalled 1.2 million doses of the Type B Hib vaccine, a common childhood vaccine, due to potential contamination during the manufacturing process. Officials with Merck claim that the recalled vaccine does not pose a health threat.
The Type B Hib vaccine is recommended for all children under 5 (and usually given in a three-shot series, starting at 2 months of age.)

The long awaited report on steroid abuse in Major League Baseball compiled by former Senator George Mitchell will point the finger on between 60 to 80 high profile baseball players. The long-awaited report will be released this afternoon.

In Las Vegas: An 18-year-old has been arrested in the shooting at a school bus stop that injured six young people on Tuesday. The shootings resulted after a fight earlier in the day over a girl.

60’s soul-rocker man Ike Turner died Wednesday at his home in San Diego. Ike was 76. Ike Turner and former wife Tina Turner were both inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

So, what is your cholesterol level? The National Center for Health Statistics has found that the average total cholesterol level among American adults is in the ‘ideal range’ for the first time since 1960.The average Cholesterol level in 2006 was 199. A level of 200 or less is desirable.

A former Triad middle school teacher indicted last April on sex offenses pleaded guilty to all charges Wednesday in a Forsyth County courtroom. Robert Watson was sentenced to 15 to 19 years in prison for numerous counts of taking indecent liberties with teenage students in 2005 while he was a teacher a Clemmons Middle School.
