A funeral service for Matt Gfeller is set for 4pm this afternoon at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons. Matt passed away after suffering a serious head injury during Friday night's High School Football game between RJ Reynolds and Greensboro Page High School.

TROPICAL STORM GUSTAV IS STILL DUMPING HEAVY RAIN ON HAITI. The National Hurricane Center saying that the Tropical Storm could regain hurricane strength as it moves toward Cuba and Jamaica over the next 24 hours.Gustav’s projected path puts the storm south of Louisiana early Labor Day Monday morning.

FORMER PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON IS SCHEDULED TO ADDRESS THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION tonight. Obama's running mate, Senator Joseph Biden will also address the convention. The Republican National Convention begins next Monday in Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Wal-mart presented Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC with a check for $53,500 dollars on Monday. The donation will help support the Triad Community Kitchen program as well as Second Harvest Food Bank’s primary food distribution program. In September, America’s Second Harvest network will become Feeding America.

THE HIJACKERS OF A SUDANESE PLANE HAVE FREED ALL 95 PASSENGERS AFTER FORCING THE AIRCRAFT TO LAND IN LIBYA. The plane was reportedly commandeered by two hijackers shortly after taking off from an airport in the Darfur region of Sudan.

CHRISTIAN GROUPS IN INDIA ARE REPORTING DOZENS OF VIOLENT ATTACKS AGAINST CHRISTIANS FOLLOWING THE ASSASSINATION OF AN ANTI-CHRISTIAN HINDU LEADER OVER THE WEEKEND. Those attacks have left at least two people dead. Gospel for Asia reports that at least one of its missionaries was injured and a number of homes and churches have been destroyed. Christians are being targeted even though authorities believe it was Maoist rebels who assassinated the radical Hindu leader on Saturday. Much of the violence is occurring in India's Orissa State.
