Research from the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse shows that teens who eat together with their family at least 5 times a week are less likely to abuse drugs and alcohol.

According to Nielsen Media Research, the average American home now has more television sets than people. Half of American homes have three or more TVs.
-In the average home, a television set is turned on for more than a third of the day — eight hours, 14 minutes,
-The average person watches four hours, 35 minutes of television each day,Speaking of TV…retro cable channel ‘TV Land’ will preempt its normal programming today between 6 to 7pm to urge families to spend time together.

Kentucky and Arkansas getting hard hit with heavy rain, flooding, and tornadoes over the weekend. Bad weather reported from Michigan to Tennessee.

Another 5 cases of E-Coli sickness from tainted spinach have been reported. So far, 173 people have become sick…92 have been hospitalized...in 25 states.
Officials say spinach grown outside of three California farms is safe to eat. But the FDA said that the industry must figure out how to let consumers know the origin of the spinach they sell. (healthday.com)

-The Carolina Panthers get a win. John Kasay kicking a 46-yard field goal with two seconds left lifting the Panthers over Tampa Bay Bucs…26-24.
-NASCAR: Jeff Burton wins at Dover. Burton also leads the points in the chase for the Nextell cup.
-After all of the destruction from Katrina and Rita…The Louisiana Superdome reopens tonight: Monday Night Football with the New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons…U2 will join in the celebration.

The annual ‘See You at the Pole’ event is less than a week away. This year’s theme is “Be still and know that I am God” based on Psalm 46:10.
