Pastor Greg Laurie made an unexpected visit to his church yesterday morning…just days after the tragic death of his son. The congregation of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Southern California welcomed Pastor Greg Laurie with a standing ovation on Sunday. Laurie told his congregation that he was not really in church as the pastor, but rather as a grieving father and that there was no other place he would rather be. Pastor Greg’s son Christopher, died in a freeway accident in Southern California on Thursday. He was 33 years old.
A memorial service for Christopher is planned for this Friday. (The Orange County Register)

Two people lost their lives and seven others were wounded in a random shooting Sunday morning at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. The 58-year old male gunman was finally wrestled to the ground and taken into custody.

A motor accident claimed the life of Christopher Brian Pack of Walkertown.
Highway Patrol said Pack lost control of his motorcycle and crashed just east of Walkertown on Friday afternoon. Pack was a 14-year racing veteran in the modified series at Bowman Gray Stadium. He drove car # 81. Pack leaves behind his wife, Julie, and three sons.

A campaign to raise $21 million dollars to fund an AIDS treatment program in five African countries has been launched by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Students, alumni and friends stayed up late Saturday night to throw some toilet paper in the Quad on the Wake Forest campus. A fitting tribute to the one year anniversary of the passing of head basketball coach Skip Prosser. Prosser died unexpectedly by a heart attack last July.

Longtime co-worker Michael McGowan agreed to take Hornagold on one last delivery. McGowan transported Hornagold's body from Davenport Family Funeral Home to Saturday's funeral services in his UPS truck. Read more...
