Senate Democrats hope to move closer to embracing a major health care bill this week by tackling the topic of abortion. Pro-life lawmakers in both parties have insisted that taxpayer funds not be used to pay for abortions in government-run health programs.

RECALL: Texas health officials have issued a health alert about oysters sold in North and South Carolina. Several people have become sick after eating oysters harvested in San Antonio, Texas. Officials have recalled the oysters. The product has a label indicated it came from San Antonio Bay.The dates in question are between November 16 and November 25. If you purchased any, throw them out.
A consumer group contends one of the holiday season's must-have toys is unsafe. A study by San Francisco-based GoodGuide that said higher-than-allowed levels of the chemical antimony were found Zhu Zhu Pets (hamsters). Good Guide named Zhu Zhu Pets hamsters one of the top-selling toys with low ratings after finding antimony, which can cause health problems, on the hair and nose of one of the toy hamsters, called Mr. Squiggles.

Auditions in the Triad TODAY: The men behind movies like "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?" and "Fargo" are looking in the Piedmont for a star for their next movie. The Coen Brothers need a young teenage girl for their new movie "True Grit" and they are holding auditions at Coliseum Park in Winston-Salem Monday, Dec. 7 from 3 to 7 p.m.

The UN Global ‘Climate Change’ conference begins today in Copenhagen, Denmark. President Obama will attend. The White House says China and India have for the first time set targets to reduce their carbon intensity. The Climate Change conference will last through December 18th.
An electrical fire at a home on Bywood Road in Greensboro displaces a family of 11 last night. The Greensboro Fire Department says the fire started due to faulty wiring in the kitchen. Everyone made it out of the house safely. The Red Cross is assisting the family.

Two Lexington churches located about one mile from each other were broken into and robbed this weekend. The First Wesleyan Church on Winston Road was broken into and robbed Friday morning. Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church on Arrington Drive in Lexington was broken into sometime early Saturday morning. Police are unsure if the robberies are related.

Winston-Salem Police are looking for a driver who backed over a Wake Forest University student early Saturday morning. The 20 year old student was walking behind a tan SUV on Indiana Avenue in Winston-Salem when the vehicle backed over him. Police are looking for a late-1990s Nissan or Infiniti SUV. The student is listed in serious condition.
