Forsyth will appeal prayer ban...

Breaking News:
The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners voted 4 - 3 to move forward with an appeal on a Federal Judge's ban on sectarian prayer. Chairman David Plyler was the deciding vote.

The NC Partnership for Religious Liberty has pledged at least $300,000 to help cover any legal costs that Forsyth county could be hit with from the appeal.

Michael Johnson, with the Alliance Defense Fund who is defending the county in the case, said that the case could likely go all the way to the US Supreme Court.

Note: A federal magistrate ruled on January 28 that the use of sectarian prayer (or prayer to a specific deity including Jesus Christ) at public meetings violates the First Amendment, deeming the open prayers unconstitutional.
