Sunny and mild through the weekend…

(Austin, Texas) Joe Stack III, a software engineer with an apparent grudge against the IRS, crashed his small plane into an office building with nearly 200 IRS employees inside, killing himself and at least one worker yesterday. Before flying his single engine Piper PA-28 into the hulking black-glass office building Thursday morning, Joe Stack apparently posted a rambling ‘manifesto’ on a Web site in which he railed against "big brother," the Catholic Church, the "unthinkable atrocities" committed by big business and the government's bailouts that followed. www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,586781,00.html

6th District Representative Howard Coble spent the night in the hospital after fainting at an event yesterday in High Point. The 78 year old Coble is the state’s longest-serving Republican congressman. (Gboro News Record)

Toyota's president Akio Toyoda will testify before a US congressional hearing next week in Washington. Toyoda is the grandson of the company's founder. U.S. regulators are looking into recent recalls from Toyota of over 8 million vehicles worldwide. Included in the recalls: the Corolla, the Camry and the Prius hybrid.

This Monday evening at 6pm, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners is expected to vote on whether to appeal a federal judge's ruling that sectarian prayers at government Board meetings that mention Jesus or any other Deity are unconstitutional. Forsyth County Board members are getting swamped with e-mail calling for an appeal, thanks in part to an organized effort by the local N.C. Partnership for Religious Liberty.
