Forsyth County will move forward with the prayer appeal. The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners voted 4 - 3 to move forward with an appeal on a Federal Judge's ban on sectarian prayer. Chairman David Plyler was the deciding vote. Vice Chair Debra Conrad read the Resolution to appeal and Gloria Whisenhunt second the motion. Chairman Dave Plyler did stress that ‘sectarian prayer’ would not be allowed at the beginning of county meetings during the appeal which could take 3 to 5 years. The NC Partnership for Religious Liberty pledged at least $300,000 dollars on Monday to help cover legal costs that Forsyth county could be hit with a possible loss in the appeal.
-Michael Johnson, with the Alliance Defense Fund who is defending the county in the case, said that the case could likely go all the way to the US Supreme Court.
-Note: A federal magistrate ruled on January 28 that the use of sectarian prayer (or prayer to a specific deity including Jesus Christ) at public meetings violates the First Amendment, deeming the open prayers unconstitutional.
FYI: The North Carolina Partnership for Religious Liberty is a non-profit organization that depends entirely on voluntary contributions. If you would like to join their network of faithful supporters, your gift will go a long way toward fighting off legal challenges to religious freedom and enlisting many more in this important battle.

A CHRISTIAN LEGAL GROUP IS SUING A FLORIDA COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT IN AN ATTEMPT TO RESTORE THE RIGHTS OF FACULTY TO PRAY. A federal judge has decided to uphold a consent order that the Santa Rosa School District agreed to follow. A two thousand eight lawsuit by the ACLU led to baring school officials from promoting, advancing, endorsing, participating in, or causing ‘prayers’. They are also banned from orally expressing personal religious beliefs to students during or in conjunction with instructional time or at a School Event. Matthew Staver of the Liberty Counsel says the court's ruling has elevated this case to nuclear war. Staver says he is confident that when an appellate court reviews this outrageous order, it will be overturned and freedom will be vindicated.

A copy of the first comic book that features Superman has been sold for 1 million dollars online. The comic book marked the debut of Superman in 1938. Only about 100 copies of the comic book exist, and of those copies, only two have received a Very Fine grading of 8.0 or higher. Back in 1938, a copy of Action Comics #1 was sold for only 10 cents.
