Hot Topics…Hot Conversation. Senator Kay Hagan was confronted by constituents during an open forum at the library in Kernersville yesterday. Some of the topics that constituents were most vocal about were abortion, health care reform and immigration. Hagan took the criticism in stride and said she understands voters are concerned about what's going on in the country. Some Triad customers are not very happy with a Greensboro roofing company that took money for repairs and didn’t finish the job. American Shingle opened for business after a tornado swept through the High Point area back in April. The Greensboro office is now closed. A door-to-door salesman representing American Shingle contacted neighborhood homes that received damage to their roofs, but customers say after paying ‘up front’ for the repairs, the repairs were never completed. The State has begun a series of bridge inspections along Business 40 in downtown Winston-Salem. DOT bridge inspectors will evaluate the Main Street, Cherry Street, Marshall Street and Spruce Street bridges along Business 40. So, expect delays over the next week and a half between 9 and 3pm. FYI: Annual bridge inspections for Winston-Salem had been set for September, but were moved them up after pieces of concrete fell off the Church Street bridge last week.
