Your WBFJ Family Station Forecast: Mostly sunny…High near 80

All Surry County schools are on high alert. WXII is reporting that the search continues for a man and a woman responsible for two attempted child abductions in Surry County last Thursday.  Pilot Mountain police officers said a white male with a gray beard approached an 11-year-old girl near Davis and East Main streets. Then, less than an hour later, police said a man fitting the same description attempted to abduct a 7-year-old girl who was playing on the playground at the Elkin Recreational Center off Highway 268. The girl and her friend fought off the man, who eventually released her and drove away.
Police described the man as heavy-set, in his 40s with gray hair and driving a white van. There is a teddy bear sticker on the white van’s driver's side rear window. Anyone who spots the van is asked to call authorities at 374-3000.

How would you like to get a break on your car insurance if you drive less? Some insurers in other states offer policies that lower insurance rates if you drive less. State Senator Bob Rucho (R-Mecklenburg) is sponsoring a bill that could bring that option to NC drivers. (State Farm insurance is backing the bill).

The March 11 earthquake that hit eastern Japan was so powerful it pulled the entire country out and down into the sea. The mostly devastated coastal communities now face regular flooding, especially at High Tide, because of their lower elevation and damage to sea walls from the massive tsunamis triggered by the quake. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/A/AS_JAPAN_EARTHQUAKE_CHANGING_TERRAIN?SITE=NCWIN&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT
