Scotty vs Lauren: Did you vote last night???  The High School gym in Garner just ain’t big enough for fans of American Idol finalist Scotty McCreery. The ‘Scotty viewing party’ has been moved to the RBC Center in Raleigh. FYI: Fox is managing the final viewing party and covering the costs at the RBC Center, which seats about 20,000 people.  If you are thinking about a road trip: doors open at 6:30pm. Parking is $10 dollars (lots open at 3pm) and admission is FREE.

Scotty McCreery, the smooth, country twanging baritone, is from Garner, NC, a suburb of Raleigh in Wake County. Scotty is a 17 year old student who bagged groceries at the Lowes Foods in Garner…before his appearance on American Idol.


North Carolina keeps turning out strong contenders on "American Idol.  "Clay Aiken, Fantasia Barrino, Kellie Pickler, Chris Daughtry, Bucky Covington, Anoop Desai and now Scotty McCreery.


“I just got carried away?”  That’s what NASCAR driver Kyle Bush told the policeman that clocked him going 128 mph in a 45 mph zone in Troutman on Tuesday. Bush, who was driving a yellow Lexus sports car, was cited for speeding and reckless driving.  Kyle Bush will compete in the Coca Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend. Bush is currently third in points in the Sprint Cup standings.


Another black bear sighting in Greensboro on Tuesday. Traffic was slow and a crowd of people formed at Battleground Avenue near Albright Drive. Fox 8 reporting that this latest bear was roughly 4 to 5 feet tall. Wildlife officials saying that the bear did not posed any sort of threat to people.

A Greensboro man was attacked by a fox outside his home early yesterday morning. Bernie Gold was outside with his dog when a fox bite him on the leg. Bernie somehow captured the fox by placing it inside a trash can before going to the hospital. Bernie told WXII news that the worst part of the ordeal was getting the anti-body injections. Severe weather has claimed at least nine lives across Arkansas, Kansas and Oklahoma. A young child is still missing near Oklahoma city. Residents of Joplin, Missouri once again found themselves huddling in shelters as another round of powerful storms roared across the Plains early this morning. The death toll from Sunday’s deadly tornado that ripped through Joplin has risen to 125. (The Weather Channel)

A 5-year-old girl was taken to the hospital in Elkin yesterday afternoon after she was struck by her own school bus. The accident happened around 3:15pm after the bus driver had stopped on Rena Road in Hamptonville. (http://www.journalnow.com/)
