5 shopping days til Christmas…

The search has been scaled back for the 2 missing climbers still lost on Mt Hood in Oregon. Officials say that volunteers are still eager to continue the search for the 2 climbers…now missing for 12 days. More severe Winter weather is expected on the Mt Hood this morning.
The cost of a rescue operation? Well, Oregon law does not require victims to pay for rescue efforts unless they were negligent and failed to take basic steps to keep themselves safe. In those cases, costs are limited to $500 per person. (usaradionews)

A fire truck from Stokesdale responding to a fire call collided with a tanker truck yesterday afternoon shutting down the intersection of Highway 158 and Highway 68 in Guilford County. The accident also forced evacuations in the immediate area because of a fuel spill associated with the wreck.
The intersection is back open this morning. (WXII / FOX8)

China is imposing new restrictions on foreign adoptions…saying NO to applicants who are unmarried, obese, over age 50 or who take antidepressants.
Officials in China say that the new restrictions are meant to limit adoptions to "only the most qualified families. China has also pledged to try to make more children available to those who qualify. The United States is the No. 1 destination for children adopted abroad. Close to 8,000 Chinese kids were adopted by US families in 2005. (CNN)

According to a study of more than 7 million people…an abundance of vitamin D seems to help prevent multiple sclerosis. Historically, MS has been more common in people who live in regions farther from the equator where there is less intense year-round sunlight. The study appears in today’s Journal of the American Medical Association. AP

And…The crew aboard the Space shuttle Discovery has began its two-day journey back to Earth after a successful stay at the international space station.
