Five counties in the northern Mountains are under a wind chill advisory until noon.

Investigators in Guildford County and the SBI say that the November 1st fire that destroyed Eastern Guildford High School is now considered an ARSON case. If you have an information about the fire you can call Guildford County Crime Stoppers at 373-1000. (WS JOURNAL)

Plans for a new baseball stadium in downtown Winston-Salem have been announced. Construction on the new $22 million dollar, 55-hundred seat baseball stadium is expected to begin in the first half of 2007.
The stadium will be built next to Business 40 on First and Broad streets.
The Winston-Salem Warthogs, would build, operate and maintain the new stadium under a 25-year contract with the city. At the end of the contract, the ownership of the stadium facility would revert back to the city and county.
The stadium should be ready for the 2008 Winston-Salem Warthogs baseball season. (WXII)

An Autopsy report has shown that James Kim, the father who took off on foot to seek help for his family after being stranded in the snow for 9 days died of hypothermia. Authorities say that Kim was about a mile from a fishing lodge stacked with food. (www.usaradio.org)

Nearly a year after the Sago Mine disaster in West Virginia, state investigators have concluded that the explosion that fatally wounded 12 miners was caused by a lightning bolt that ignited methane gas in the mine. (USA Radio News)

Low cloud cover has forced NASA to push space shuttle Discovery's liftoff to Saturday. The shuttle launch is now set for 8:48 tomorrow night…weather permitting. This is NASA’s first nighttime launch in four years.
The mission: to finish work on the International Space Station before the shuttles stop flying in four years. (USA Radio News)

According to researchers at Hanover University of Music and Drama in Germany people who have lower levels of self-esteem get more enjoyment from crime and detective stories that confirm their suspicions in the end, while those with higher self-esteem prefer a surprise ending.(Research published in a recent issue of the journal Media Psychology)
