Let the prayer battle begin: Forsyth County commissioners meeting for more than two hours yesterday behind closed doors…have agreed to take on an ACLU lawsuit that challenges the current practice of opening invocations at public meetings with sectarian prayer. The 4-3 decision was split along party lines.
Area churches and businessmen have said that they would help raise private money to fight the ACLU lawsuit. (journalnow.com)
The Alliance Defense Fund has agreed to take on Forsyth County’s case at no cost.

The U.S. Senate voting yesterday to allow federal tax dollars to be used as an incentive to destroy human embryos for stem-cell research.
President Bush has promised a veto.
A study published Tuesday in The Journal of the American Medical Association showing 13 young Brazilians with type 1 diabetes have been able to stop taking insulin shots, thanks to a promising treatment with their own stem cells — not embryonic stem cells. (American Family Association)

Imus out: Hours after being fired by CBS, radio shock host Don Imus met with the Rutgers women’s basket team and coaches last night at the New Jersey’s Governors Manson last night.
The decision to fire Imus comes after remarks deemed racist and sexist made by Imus about the Rutgers University women's basketball team.
In a related story…New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine was traveling back to the NJ governors mansion to host the meeting between Don Imus and the Rutgers team when he was in a serious accident. (CNN)

Johnson and Johnson, the maker of Listerine, is recalling 4 million bottles of the recently launched Listerine Agent Cool Blue plaque-detecting mouth rinse
marketed to kids. The recall affects Glacier Mint and Bubble Blast flavors.

Compassion International is partnering with Habitat for Humanity International to rebuild more than 500 homes and hundreds more damaged in November when a Typhoon struck the Philippines.
