National Weather Service forecasters said they expect 13 to 17 tropical storms,
with seven to 10 of them becoming hurricanes this year.
The Atlantic Hurricane Season runs June 1 through November 30.

The superintendent of Davie County Schools, Steve Lane, resigned yesterday, just two weeks after a school bond proposal that he supported…failed. Lane said he wasn’t forced to resign…but he thinks that a new superintendent could bring a fresh approach to tackling the problem of overcrowding at Davie High School.

An estimated 10,000 people attended the funeral service of Rev Jerry Falwell yesterday. One student didn’t make to the service…
A 19 year old Liberty University student was arrested yesterday for having 6 homemade bombs in his car. ABC News saying that the student was going to use the bombs to stop protesters from disrupting the funeral service of the Rev. Jerry Falwell. A relative of the arrested student alerted authorities to the potential bomb threat. (ABC News / USA Radio News)

The 2 ‘wayward whales’ stuck miles inside the Sacramento River apparently are swimming in circles. Crews in the more than two dozen boats blocking the humpbacks' path up the river tried herding the mother and her calf downstream by banging metal pipes beneath the water.
The challenge, officials said, was encouraging the pair to return to salt water quickly but without resorting to tactics that could upset the whales.

Thou shall not gossip?
New Hampshire: Four town employees here say they were, raising questions about fairness, free speech and a staple of life in the American workplace.
The employees were fired in April after speaking to a lawyer the town hired as a fact-finder to rout out chatterboxes. The women now known as "The Hooksett Four" comprise about a quarter of the town's staff, including two entire departments. They are well-known in Hooksett, home to about 13,000 people.Each woman had received positive work reviews and is appealing to get back her job. (CNN)
