Hundreds of Yadkin County residents voicing their opposition yesterday morning with the Yadkin County Commissioners' recent decision to stop praying to God before their meetings.
-Two months ago, a majority of the commissioners agreed to end sectarian prayer. On Monday, Commissioner Brady Wooten made a motion to bring prayer back…but the motion was not seconded.
-In recent months, the ACLU sent letters to city and county governments statewide threatening lawsuits if they did not stop praying to a specific deity.
The ACLU claims such prayers in a government setting are unconstitutional.

Voters in Davie County will go to the polls today to decide whether to build a second high school in Smith Grove. If approved, the vote would allow the county to borrow $30 million for a new high school in and $7 million for renovations to the current Davie County High School.

Coast Guard helicopters rescued nine people from the Atlantic Ocean on Monday as winds gusted up to hurricane force along the North Carolina coast. Three of the 9 people were rescued from a makeshift life raft about 160 miles east of Cape Hatteras.

Residents of Greensburg, Kansas are praising the national weather service for a 20-minute warning that was issued last Friday before a category 5 tornado ripped through their town. 9 fatalities associated with last weeks tornado.
Officials in Greensburg, Kansas saying that 95% of the town was destroyed.
AND…Flooding has forced hundreds of people from their homes and blocked streets and highways following a weekend of violent thunderstorms across the central Plains.
