Bolton Pool in Winston-Salem was shut down yesterday after a bomb
threat led to a fight. Two men were arrested yesterday at Bolton pool. After police evacuated the pool, they found no evidence of a bomb. City officials then closed the pool for the day. (www.journalnow.com)

Winston-Salem Police have arrested 3 people in connection with the drive by shooting death of Chelsea Powers…a 15 year old girl early Monday. The shooting occurred on Charles Street in Winston-Salem. Another teen was wounded. (WXII / Journalnow.com)

The US will announce tough new sanctions against Sudan in an effort to end the bloodshed in Darfur. Since 2003, fighting by government-backed militias and rebel groups in the Darfur region of western Sudan has killed more than 200,000 people and driven more than 2 million from their homes. State senator Kay Hagan (from Greensboro) has filed a bill that would allow people to buy raw, unpasteurized milk from local dairy farmers. The Senate approved the bill by a vote of 39-9 last week. -Under state law, farmers and other people who own cows are free to drink raw milk.
-But since 2004, the state legislature outlawed a practice known as
“cow-sharing,” it has been illegal in North Carolina to sell raw milk for human
consumption. Hagan’s bill now goes to the N.C. House of Representatives.
If it is approved there, consumers would be allowed to enter into contracts with farmers to buy a “share” of their cows and get raw milk from them. It would still be illegal to sell it commercially.
