A rescue exercise on Pilot Mountain yesterday became a real-life rescue event. A group of instructors with the Boy Scouts of America were on Pilot Mountain practicing rescue missions when Steve Richter fell 30 feet down the mountain. Richter was pulled to safety and airlifted to WF Baptist Medical Center. Richter was listed in fair condition last night at

The FDA is checking toothpaste coming from China into the US…
Reports of tainted toothpaste have been detected in other countries.
So far, the FDA has no evidence that contaminated toothpaste has made its way into the US but is taking the step as a precaution. (CNN)

The military has confirmed that a body pulled from the Euphrates River near Baghdad on Wednesday is one of the 3 missing US soldiers in Iraq. Pfc. Joseph Anzack Jr , of California, was 20 years old. The 3 soldiers disappeared after being ambushed on May 12th. A search for the remaining 2 soldiers continues. (USA Radio News)

Oprah has credited her father for imposing discipline on her and stressing the importance of an education. A teenage Winfrey was living with her mother in Milwaukee when she was sent to live with her father in Nashville. (CNN)

NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon is officially on ‘baby watch’.
Gordon's wife, Ingrid, is due the week of the June 24. If Jeff is forced to miss a NASCAR race to attend the birth…Mark Martin will drive the # 24 Chevrolet. (nascar.com)
Gordon will be driving in the Coca-Cola 600 at Lowes Motor Speedway on Sunday.

Thou shall not gossip? Should you be fired for gossiping about your boss?
Four female town employees in one town in New Hampshire were fired in April for gossiping about their boss. Rumors were being circulated about a close working relationship between a town administrator and a female employee. The 4 women who were fired…say they weren't the only ones who discussed the rumor, and dismissed it as untrue after briefly talking about it.
Each woman had received positive work reviews and is appealing to get back their job. (CNN)
