One fatality early this morning with the accident on SB 85 in Davidson County.
An accident involving a tractor trailer happened between exits 94 and 96 on Interstate 85 south bound. All southbound lanes of I-85 at Old Hwy 64 are shut down. Police are asking drivers to avoid the area if possible. (Metro Traffic / WXII)

A 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit the northwest coast of Japan earlier this morning…killing at least 5 people and injuring more than 400.
The quake and proceeding aftershocks have triggered several small tsunamis.

A 26-year-old soldier from North Carolina has been fatally wounded in Iraq.
Sgt. Courtney Johnson, of Garner, died Wednesday after insurgents attacked his unit. Johnson was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia and had been in the Army since 2002. (WXII)

Police in OSHKOSH, Wisconsin are still investigating why a teenage girl fell to her death during a Christian Music Festival. 16 year old Elizabeth Mohl of Wisconsin was killed Saturday after falling 50 feet from a ‘swinging cable ride’ called Air Glory . A prayer service was held later in the day. (CNN)

How fast is too fast? Kevin Buorkan of Asheville will spend a year in jail after he was clocked going 160 mph on a motorcycle on Interstate 81 in Virginia.
