370 pints of blood donated yesterday.

Strong wind and lightning not helping firefighters who are battling wildfires out West. Wildfires are burning out of control in at least seven states with 5 wildfires in Utah.

Most of CompRehab Outpatient Services at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is back open after a burst water pipe caused extensive water damage to the building over the weekend.
The Fitness Center is temporarily closed until further notice.

As the Senate debates taking a new course in Iraq, President Bush's national security adviser Stephen Hadley will meet with more than a dozen Republican senators in a bid to shore up eroding support for the war. The White House finalized a 23-page progress report on Iraq…that concludes the government in Baghdad has made little progress in meeting reform goals laid down by President Bush and Congress.

A twin-engine Cessna with two people on board crashed into a suburban Orlando subdivision yesterday morning igniting 2 houses. The pilot and Dr. Bruce Kennedy a Daytona Beach plastic surgeon and husband of International Speedway Corporation President Lesa France Kennedy were killed as wel as 3 others on the ground. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.

Officials in one Randolph County town said they want indoor furniture off the front porch. Ramseur's mayor said a proposed ordinance would help them clean up the town. A public hearing is set for August 6th at 7:30 p.m., right before the regular town commissioners' meeting in Ramseur.

China's food and drug agency has announced stricter rules for approving new drugs. On Tuesday, the former head of China's food and drug agency was executed for accepting bribes to approve untested medicine.
Starting in September, all food exported from China will have an inspection and quarantine symbol to guarantee safety.
China will host the 2008 Summer Games.
