Record High temperatures in California and Arizona for the 4th…
More than two weeks of heavy rain has caused widespread flooding in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. Monday was the 20th straight day of rain over Oklahoma City. (USA)

President Bush Asking Americans for Patience and CourageDuring a 4th of July speech, President Bush told members of the National Guard and their families in Martinsburg, West Virginia that victory in Iraq will require more patience, courage and sacrifice. (USA)

Al Gore III…the 24-year-old son of former Vice President Al Gore was arrested for drug possession early Wednesday morning after he was stopped for speeding in his hybrid Toyota Prius. Officers clocked Gore going 100 mph in his hybrid Toyota Prius on a freeway south of Los Angeles. Gore was arrested on reckless driving charges and suspicion of drug possession.
-In 1989, Al Gore III, at age 6, almost died when he was hit by a car, and required extensive surgery and physical therapy. Al Gore III is the youngest child and only son of the former vice president. (CNN / USA)

Saxophonist Boots Randolph, whose spirited saxophone playing on songs like Yakety Sax made him one of Nashville's top musicians passed away on Tuesday. Boots Randolph was 80.He recorded more than 40 albums. As a session musician, he played on Elvis Presley's Return to Sender, Roy Orbison's Pretty Woman and Brenda Lee's Rockin' Round the Christmas Tree. (CNN)

Bill Pinkney, the last survivor of the original members of the musical group The Drifters died Wednesday. He was 81. Pinkney was scheduled to perform during Fourth of July festivities in Daytona Beach, Florida. Pinkney, born in Dalzell, S.C., wasn't part of The Drifters when they recorded their biggest hits including "Under the Boardwalk," "Up on the Roof," and "Save the Last Dance For Me"…but his distinctive bass voice can be heard on the group's version of the holiday classic "White Christmas." American takes the Gold (well golden Mustard): Californian Joey Chestnut inhaled a record 66 hot dogs in 12 minutes in the annual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest in New York’s Coney Island. Chestnut beat the six time defending champ from Japan.
