Summer school enrollment for math in Forsyth County more than quadrupled this year…, forcing the school district to equally multiply the number of summer school teachers.
This year, over 800 students are currently in summer school to re-take math.

Dr. Mohamed Ah-med-na, an agricultural researcher at North Carolina A&T State University has developed what he said is a simple process to make allergen-free peanuts.

MySpace.com has found more than 29,000 registered sex offenders with profiles on the popular social networking Website…more than four times the number cited by the company two months ago. North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper is one of several attorneys general around the nation who requested that MySpace.com provide information on how many registered sex offenders were using the popular social networking site.

There seems to be a dangerous trend of young stars hitting rock bottom: Actress Lindsay Lohan was arrested early Tuesday morning on suspicion of DUI, possession of cocaine, and driving without a license in Santa Monica, California. Lohan just got out of rehab last month. (CNN)

The 2007 hurricane season may be less severe than earlier forecasted due to cooler-than-expected water temperatures in the tropical Atlantic. The revised prediction: 14 named storms will form in the Atlantic…of which six will become hurricanes and three will become major hurricanes. The Atlantic Hurricane Season runs through November.

About one in three people living in Southern coastal areas said they would ignore hurricane evacuation orders if a storm threatened their community. According to a research poll from Harvard University…The most common reasons for not evacuating ?
Coastal residents believe that their homes are safe and well-built, that roads would be too crowded and that leaving would be dangerous. One in four residents also said they would be reluctant to leave behind a pet. (USA Radio News)

NBA Commissioner David Stern broke his silence yesterday commenting on the investigation into possible game fixing by NBA referee Tim Donaghy, saying that as far as he knows the allegations are an "isolated incident." Federal investigators are examining whether Donaghy made calls to affect the point spread in games on which he or associates had wagered thousands of dollars over the past two seasons.
