The Weather Channel saying that there is an increased threat of ‘rip’ currents along the Carolina coast, but conditions could worsen if a tropical system takes shape later this weekend.

Two more arrests have been made in connection with a wreck that killed a teenager last month. Christopher Madren, a rising senior at North Davidson High School, had been drinking alcohol when his car overturned on Leonard Road in Davidson County on August 25th. (http://www.journalnow.com/)

Eight Republicans argued over the Iraq war and immigration in New Hampshire. Missing from the GOP debate last night… actor-politician Fred Thompson, who skipped the debate in favor of announcing his candidacy on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. (CNN)

Funeral arrangements have been announced for Dr D. James Kennedy. The founder of Coral Ridge Ministries in Fort Lauderdale, Florida passed away in his sleep early Wednesday morning. Dr Kennedy suffered a heart attack in December of 2006. A public viewing and funeral will be held next week in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. (http://www.djameskennedy.org/)

Italian opera tenor Luciano Pavarotti passed away at his Italian home earlier. Pavarotti had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year. He was 71-years old.

APPLE HAS DROPPED THE PRICE OF ITS POPULAR i-PHONE AND UNVEILED AN UPDATED LINE OF IPODS. Apple says it’s cutting the price of the eight gigabyte i-Phone by two-hundred dollars. The improved version of the popular iPod can now hold 40-thousand songs or two-hundred hours of video. The one-millionth i-Phone will likely be sold by the end of September.

Five nuclear warheads on a B-52 bomber that made their way half way across the US were in violation of military policy. The Military Times reports the B-52 flew from an Air Force Base in North Dakota to an Air Base in Louisiana. Because the mistake wasn’t discovered until the plane landed in Louisiana, the warheads were technically unaccounted for during the entire three-and-a-half hour flight -- even though they were in Air Force custody the entire time. Nuclear warheads are never to be transported by air.

President Bush has declared Friday through Sunday as National Days of Prayer and Remembrance for the victims (and their families) of September 11, 2001. Next Tuesday marks the sixth anniversary of the terror attacks in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, DC on 9-11-2001.
