The Republican winner: Arizona Senator John McCain edging out Mitt Romney. It is speculated that Giuliani (who placed a distant third in Florida) will drop out later today. For the Democrats: Hillary Clinton over Barak Obama. The Super Tuesday primaries will be held next Tuesday in more than 20 states. The NC Primary will be Tuesday, May 6th.

Australia is pulling its 550 troops out of Iraq within six months…but will keep a troop presence in Afghanistan.

A Triad Wal-Mart employee was brutally beaten after trying to get the license plate number of an alleged shoplifter. Kenneth Lehman, a customer service manager at the Kernersville Wal-Mart, said he wasn't trying to be a hero, just help police catch a culprit who had run out of the store with a home theater system. The robber fractured Lehman's skull, and left him with a black eye and other bruises during the beating. Police said the man fled the area in a two-door red hatchback. The 150-million dollar economic stimulus package has made it through the House of Representatives. President Bush is urging the Senate to pass the bill without making any major changes to it. The plan will provide rebate checks of up to twelve-hundred dollars per couple. Plus, three-hundred dollars for each eligible dependent child.

Senator Richard Burr has introduced a bill in Congress that would establish a sales tax holiday from April 4 through April 13. The states who suspend collection of their sales taxes during that period would get 60% of their lost revenue reimbursed by the federal government.

Immediate savings from major retailer: Wal-Mart is cutting prices by ten to 30% on thousands of items throughout its stores…including food.

Compassion International has received the ‘MySpace Impact Award for Poverty Relief.’ The award recognizes members of the MySpace community for the positive impact they've had on our culture and how they use MySpace to multiply their reach. Compassion will receive $10,000 dollars and featured placement on the MySpace home page for a week. MySpace has more than 75 million members. Members can make nominations and vote for the winners.

Christian artist and worship leader Israel Haughton and New Breed will perform at the Grammys during a special Gospel segment. Israel will be on stage with Aretha Franklin, Mary J Blige, the Clark Sisters and Trin-I-Tee 5:7. Israel and New Breed are up for two GRAMMY Award nominations.

American Idol contestant Mandisa is up for her first Grammy for her debut CD ‘True Beauty’. The 50th Grammy Awards …February 10th on CBS.
