The statewide ban on Open Burning has been lifted.
The ban was imposed in mid-October because of the worsening drought. Another statewide burn ban could be reinstated if conditions change.

Mike Huckabee and Barack Obama tops in Iowa. Republican Mitt Romney and Democrat John Edwards coming in second. Hillary Clinton coming in third behind Edwards. GOP candidates Fred Thompson and John McCain essentially tying for third. Democratic candidates Joe Biden and Chris Dodd have dropped out of the race for President after poor showings in Iowa. For everyone else…it’s on to New Hampshire.

More bad news for Brittney: CNN reporting that Pop star Britney Spears was taken to the hospital for a psychological evaluation after police were called to her home last night because of a heated custody battle.

Good News for thousands of residents in eastern Forsyth and western Guilford Counties after a transformer failed…knocking out power to parts of Kernersville, Oak Ridge and Colfax.

Mission Aviation Fellowship has suspended in and out of Kenya.

Skybus Airlines celebrating the New Year with ‘new’ discount airfares. Skybus tickets selling for $20.08. PetSmart stores in Georgia have been ordered to quarantine all birds sold at the stores because of confirmed cases of psit·ta·co·sis a bird disease that can be transferred to humans. The disease is most prevalent in parrots and parakeets.
