At least four people were killed…close to 50 people injured yesterday when a tornado hit a Boy Scout camp in western Iowa. Many of the injuries occurred when a brick fireplace was ripped apart by storm. Another storm in Kansas damaged several buildings even ripping the roof off a Frat house on the campus on Kansas State University.

The National Weather Service has extended the dense smoke advisory for much of eastern Carolina (including Hyde County) because of a massive wild fire that has consumed over 40 acres (or 63 square miles). Smoke from the Hyde County fire, about 40 miles from the Atlantic, may drift over the Piedmont over the next few days.
