Two small Christian colleges are merging into one. Piedmont Baptist College in Winston-Salem and Atlantic Baptist Bible College of Chester, Va., will merge in January. State agencies should plan for additional spending cuts. That’s the word from Raleigh. Governor Easley has ordered all state departments and other institutions to develop proposals on how they will reduce spending by up to 7%. At least 43 states are facing shortfalls in their budgets for this year and/or next year.

Authorities in Winston-Salem are trying to determine what caused the death of a man who crashed his van into a tree in the Target parking lot last night. Authorities say that John Lord's van was traveling around 40 MPH at the time of the crash.
