THE FEDERAL RESERVE COULD CUT ONE OF ITS KEY INTEREST RATES LATER TODAY. The Fed is wrapping up a two-day monetary policy meeting.

Piedmont Natural Gas is requesting a billing rate cut for customers in North and South Carolina. If approved natural gas bills would be reduced by 7% effective January 1st.

A Brinks employee died yesterday morning after being shot during a robbery outside the Old Navy store at the Friendly Center. The Rev. Robert A. Schuller, the son of Crystal Cathedral's founder Robert H. Schuller, has stepped down as senior pastor of Crystal Cathedral in California. Sad…but they had to go: 10 Autumn Purple Ash trees were cut down on the Quad at Wake Forest University on Monday. The ash trees were found to have bacterial leaf scorch. In all, 30 Ash trees will be replaced over 3 years on the quad with three varieties of maples.

Employees at UNCG were notified Monday of a security breach of one of the school’s computers that contained personal information used to process the payroll. A twelve year honor roll student from Burlington was stopped by police in Virginia last Friday morning. Yes, the 12 year old boy was the one driving. The 7th grader had driven 200 miles from home (from Burlington to Spotsylvania County near Washington, DC) by himself. Police found 2 loaded handguns on the front seat of the car.

Two 16 year old students from High Point Central have been charged with hanging four ‘K-K-K hoods’ at various locations on the school grounds on Monday morning.
