MercyMe cancelled its scheduled concert date over the weekend after the band’s tour bus was involved in a deadly crash. All of the band members are OK. Police say that a car reportedly pulled in front of the bus early Saturday morning. Two adults and an unborn child riding in the car were killed. The band was traveling through Fort Wayne, Indiana on its way to Six Flags in St. Louis. The band has asked its fans to be praying for the families of all those killed in the accident.

A Stokes County grandmother was killed Sunday morning after being apparently run over by her grandson. The Winston-Salem Journal reporting that 77 year old Dorothy Milton had gotten out of a car driven by her grandson 29 year old Christopher Milton…and while still in the driveway somehow was run over by the grandson. The two had reportedly returned from a trip to a nearby bank. The incident is being investigated as an accident.

A Northwest Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing yesterday at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Flight 1546 took off for Minneapolis just before 9 a.m. but quickly landed after the pilot heard a noise. A bird apparently struck the left engine and pilots shut it down. No one was injured.

Divers will continue their search of two remaining victims from the collision of a small plane and a sightseeing helicopter over the Hudson River just before noon on Saturday. Seven bodies have been recovered by divers working in near-zero visibility. Investigators had raised the wreckage of the helicopter, but the plane remained missing. A deadly typhoon that slammed into China's coastal provinces and Taiwan over the weekend has displaced nearly one million people and left dozens missing. Another typhoon hit west Japan earlier today leaving 12 people dead.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck of "The View" is the mother of a third child. Hasselbeck gave birth Sunday afternoon in a New York hospital to a boy, named Isaiah Timothy. She's married to former NFL player Tim Hasselbeck. It's the couple's second son. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20090810/D99VNA100.html
