The President disagreeing with top Democratic leaders who have called recent Town Hall protests on healthcare un-American. At a number of town hall meetings across the country recently, politicians have been met with loud protests over healthcare reform proposals. In a USA Today op-ed piece on Monday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the House Majority Leader suggested the protests are un-American. The president thinks spirited debates about health care are in keeping with American tradition.

Three American soldiers have been killed in southern Afghanistan. Military officials saying that the three died in separate "hostile fire incidents."

In Taiwan, bad weather is being blamed on the crash of a rescue helicopter with three crew aboard. The helicopter crashed into a mountain while on a mission to rescue villagers whose homes were destroyed by a powerful typhoon. Hundreds of people in Taiwan are missing after heavy rains triggered a landslide.

Earthquakes jolting parts of India and Japan earlier today. A tsunami warning was issued for several countries, but has been cancelled.
