Tropical Storm Ernesto...
http://www.weather.com/hurricanecentral/?from=footer&ref=/weather/narrative/27101
Severe Weather Outlook
Hurricane Tracker: Ernesto
As of 10am Tuesday...
Tropical Storm Ernesto (45 mph) is swirling northwest at about 14 mph toward south Florida this morning. The center of the storm reemerged over water last night after meandering over Cuba for almost 20 hours. The storm will likely regain a little strength today, but probably will have trouble recapturing its former hurricane status. Heavy, flooding rainfall on the order of 5 to 10 inches (locally 15 inches) will be the main threat from Ernesto as it grinds over south Florida and the Keys later today and tonight.
Hurricane watches are in effect for much of south Florida and the northwest Bahamas. In addition, tropical storm warnings are posted for many of the same areas.
Meanwhile, a disturbance in the Atlantic Ocean about 625 miles southwest of the Cape Verde Islands has drawn forecasters' interest. Squally weather and gusty winds with the system have increased and become more concentrated over the last 12 hours. A depression could form within the next day or two as the disturbance plows westward.

Today is the first anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
President Bush is meeting with local and state leaders in Louisiana this week to commemorate the first anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Recovery from the deadly storm that struck the Gulf one year ago is far from over. (USA TODAY)
Hurricane Katrina was the deadliest hurricane to effect the US in 70 years…and the most costly ever. More than half a million people were evacuated, more than 90,000 square miles were declared a disaster area, and more than 1,600 people have been confirmed dead. An additional 1,000 people are still missing. (Healthday news)
A Harvard study is showing that survivors of Hurricane Katrina experienced a doubling in the rate of serious mental illness in the months following the disaster. At the same time, however, the Harvard study also found that thoughts of suicide have actually fallen from levels recorded before the storm.
That surprising finding might be due to a high level of optimism and resiliency among survivors, the researchers said. (HealthDay News)
