John Mark Karr, a school teacher from the US, was arrested in Thailand on Wednesday…allegedly confessing to the murder of the 6-year-old beauty queen back in 1996. (USA RADIO NEWS)

Actor Mel Gibson’s lawyer pleaded no contest during a court appearance yesterday after being stopped for DUI in early August. Gibson was sentenced to three years probation, $1200 in fines and penalties and one year of AA meetings. (CNN)

Target is recalling over 180,000 F-Forward Firestreet Scooters.
The problem: The scooters' handlebars, wheels and wheel brakes can break and detach. They were sold across the U.S. from February 2004 through July 2006. Consumers should return the scooters to the nearest Target store, where they'll receive a $24 gift card, plus applicable sales tax.

A judge has ruled that the President’s Terrorist Surveillance Program is unconstitutional. The program allows the government to eavesdrop on the international phone calls and e-mails of U.S. citizens without obtaining a warrant. Bush administration authorized the NSA program after the September 11 attacks on the United States, and it became public last year. (CNN)

A U.S. federal court jury in New Orleans has ordered drug maker Merck to pay $51 million dollars to a former FBI agent who said his 2002 heart attack was caused by the painkiller Vioxx. In a second legal setback for the company, a state judge in New Jersey ruled that new evidence showed Merck withheld information linking Vioxx use of more than 18 months to a greater risk of heart attacks. Merck faces more than 16,000 Vioxx lawsuits and says it plans to fight each one in court. (HEALTHDAY.COM)

Office workers consumed by ‘fantasy football’ cost employers as much as $1 billion dollars a week in lost productivity.
According to a new study, over 35 million people spend an average of 50 minutes a week at work managing their fantasy teams.
The study also cited a survey saying average fantasy sports owners spend 34 minutes a day just thinking about their teams and spend close to $500 a year on fantasy sports. (FOX NEWS CHANNEL)
