Because of the disrupted terror plot in Great Britain on Thursday…
Airport security has been tightened.
If you are flying today: Allow plenty of time to make your flight.
-TSA saying that you will have to go through 2 security checks before boarding your plane.
-NO liquids or gels will be allowed on flights. Exceptions: baby formula and medications
Essential carry-on items such as your wallet, ID, Pass Ports and keys should be placed in a clear plastic bag.
-You may want to check with your air carrier to see if there are any further changes or delays. (CNN)

Americans living in India have been warned of a possible terror attack next week. An e-mail from the U.S. Embassy is warning of possible terror bombings in New Delhi and Bombay…planned around India's Independence Day, which falls on Tuesday, August 15th. (FOX NEWS CHANNEL)

China is reporting over 100 fatalities and close to 200 missing after the most powerful typhoon to hit the country in 50 years. The typhoon is also blamed for at least two deaths in the Philippines. Heavy rains are expected through the weekend. (USA RADIO NEWS)

Scientists have discovered so called ‘molecular janitors’ that literally clear away a ‘sticky gunk’ blamed for Alzheimer's disease.
The finding helps explain why Alzheimer's is a disease of aging. More importantly, it suggests a new weapon: drugs that give nature's cleanup crews a boost. About 4.5 million Americans have Alzheimer's. That number expected to triple by 20-50. The findings published in the journal Science. (AP Medical)
Locally… Piedmont Medical Research Associates is currently enrolling people over 55 with very early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease in a national study.
Physicians at several sites in North Carolina, including one in Winston-Salem are researching a new treatment called Flur-i-zan in a Phase 3 clinical trial.

The Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (or PART) has approved offering bus service between the Triad and Boone.
In less than two weeks, if you drive Highway 421 from Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Wilkesboro and Boone…another travel option will be available beginning August 24th. The bus will leave the Galyon Depot in Greensboro at 5:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day and arrive in Boone 2 1/2 hours later after stops in Winston-Salem, Yadkinville and Wilkesboro.
Proposed fares range from $3 to $10 one-way, depending on how far passengers travel. Passengers heading all the way to Boone will pay $10 from Greensboro, $8 from Winston-Salem, $6 from Yadkinville and $3 from Wilkesboro.
Fares will cost half-price for students, elderly and disabled people.
The new Triad to Boone Bus route will make two round trips a day, seven days a week. (WS JOURNAL)

Grocery Store chain “Southern Family Markets” is closing stores here in the Triad. The Southern Family Markets stores in Lexington, Jamestown, Greensboro, High Point and Clemmons will close August 26th. Going out of business sales will start this Sunday, August 13.

Police in Madrid, Spain have arrested four Frenchmen for jumping in front of cars on a busy road (Benidorm to La Nucia) so that they could film themselves and post the footage on the Internet. The four jokesters took turns leaping in front of cars, forcing the drivers to swerve or brake sharply…putting themselves and drivers in danger. (MYNEWS>COM)
