Gas Prices going down? One of the reasons…well the recent drop in crude oil prices. The national price for regular unleaded gasoline fell 7 cents over the last week to $2.92 a gallon…still up 31 cents from a year ago.

Traffic deaths in the US have reached their highest levels since 1990.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issuing a report on Tuesday saying that the increase centers around motorcycle and pedestrian fatalities. Keys to staying safe: Motorcyclists need to wear their helmets and drivers need to buckle up.

President Bush has authorized the U.S. Marine Corps to recall 2,500 troops to active duty. Recruiting is down and just not enough Marine Reserves returning for duty in Afghanistan and Iraq. (CNN)

The latest storm in the Atlantic is now a Tropical Storm. “Debby” could become a hurricane within 72 hours. The Tropical Storm will not cause any problems for the US until early next week. (WEATHER.COM)
The first anniversary of Hurricane Katrina is coming up August 29.

An AirTran flight bound for New York made an emergency landing at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport last night. Shortly after take-off from Atlanta, a flight attendant noticed a bottle of water behind a passenger's seat. The flight attendant took the water and disposed of it
Then, the flight attendant noticed a peculiar and strong odor. A decision was made to make an emergency landing in Charlotte.
-Authorities talked with the passenger who was sitting in the area where the bottle of water was found.
-TSA officials are not sure if he and his companion brought the water on the plane or if it was left in the seat from a previous flight. Officials later cleared the plane and re-screened all the passengers. (WBTV)

Kutless will not be performing at Christian Youth Day in
Greensboro on Saturday:
The lead vocalist for Kutless Jon Micah is having surgery today after a Skiing accident back in December. Jon Micah seriously injured his shoulder: an MRI showed a ‘Slap Lesion Tear’ as well as a torn Rotator cuff and ligament damage. Please keep Jon Micah (the lead vocalist for Kutless) in your prayers as he undergoes Surgery today (Aug 21).
