Homecoming games. Midterm exams and the "freshman 15."
All are college traditions, but educators would like to put an end to the Freshmen 15. Experts say the "freshman 15" is a common experience for newcomers faced with unlimited cafeteria food, late-night pizza binges and snacking that comes with irregular schedules. Universities around the nation are fighting back.
Duke University will offer an interactive nutrition workshop that includes tips for making quick, healthy meals in the dorms…and how to stay healthy in an all-you-can eat dining hall. (AP)

Iran tested 10 short range missiles on Sunday saying that there are still options but suspension of its nuclear program is not on their agenda.
The U.N. Security Council passed a resolution last month calling for Iran to suspend uranium enrichment by August 31st or face economic and diplomatic sanctions. Iran says that it will have an answer on Tuesday. (USARADIO / CNN)

John Mark Karr is back in the US. The suspect in the 1996 death of 6-year-old JonBenet Ramsey arrived early today in LA on a flight from Thailand where he was taken into custody. The 41-year-old former schoolteacher will be held in Los Angeles pending extradition to Colorado. (CNN)

Photographer Joe Rosenthal who won a Pulitzer Prize for his immortal image of six World War II servicemen raising an American flag at Iwo Jima, passed away on Sunday. He was 94.
-The Associated Press photo was taken on Feb. 23, 1945 and became the model for the Iwo Jima Memorial near Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
-The Marine Corp War Memorial commemorates those Marines who died fighting to take the Pacific island in World War II.

Latin Christian band Salvador is partnering with The American Bible Society to reach the Spanish-speaking population with the Bible.The partnership will promote Bible reading among the fast-growing Latino community in a national advocacy campaign called "La Biblia Es Mi Guía" ("The Bible Is My Guide").
Salvador’s latest release: "Dismiss the Mystery" hits stores on Aug. 29.


Kutless will not be performing at Christian Youth Day in
Greensboro on Saturday:
The lead vocalist for Kutless Jon Micah is having surgery today after a Skiing accident back in December. Jon Micah seriously injured his shoulder: an MRI showed a ‘Slap Lesion Tear’ as well as a torn Rotator cuff and ligament damage. Please keep Jon Micah (the lead vocalist for Kutless) in your prayers as he undergoes Surgery today (Aug 21).
