Friday (April 21) is the final day to get the 'early bird' special rate to attend the 27th Annual NCHE Homeschool Conference and /or Book Fair at the Benton Convention Center, in downtown Winston-Salem at the end of May. (May 26-28, 2011)  The conference is open to everyone (NCHE members and non-members) .
PS: The cost will go up $10 to $20 dolllars after this Friday to attend the NCHE Homeschool convention.

The 42nd annual GMA Dove Awards were held at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta last night. Some of the winners included: 
Francesca Battistelli winning Artist of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year. Also, Francesca’s song "Beautiful, Beautiful" won for Pop-Contemporary Song of the Year.  NeedToBreathe winning Group of the Year and their song "Something Beautiful" won in the Rock-Contemporary Song of the Year category. tobyMac’s CD "Tonight".winning Rock-Contemporary Album of the Year.
Our Sharathon artist for this year Chris August winning New Artist of the Year and Vocalist of the Year. Chris’ latest CD "No Far Away" winning Pop-Contemporary Album of the Year.

Weekend storm update:
The death toll from Saturday’s tornadoes that ripped through the state has risen to 24. The latest numbers: Close to 6,200 homes were damages with over 400 totally destroyed. At least 2,000 workers are now without jobs, after storms damaged or destroyed close to 100 businesses in central and eastern NC. (http://www.journalnow.com/)

A memorial service was held last night to remember four children that did not survive a deadly tornado on Saturday…that brought down a tree onto their mobile home near Raleigh. Authorities saying that Christina Alvarez did everything right by moving the four children into a closet . She was the mother of two of the children. The death toll from Saturday’s deadly storms has risen to 24.  (NCNN)

It's that time of year again, prom season. While many teens and their moms are rushing out to buy the perfect outfit, others are taking a more creative route. For example:  -A Wisconsin mom thought it would be a good idea to design her daughter's prom dress out of Starburst wrappers. The entire creation took a total of six years to produce. The crafty mom also made a matching vest, shoes and handbag with the same material…Starburst wrappers.

One person was killed and another was injured in that crash that shutdown southbound I-85 near Thomasville yesterday morning. 33-year-old Jonathan Bunting, of Archdale, died after his car rear-ended a tractor-trailer. (Greensboro News Record)

Funeral service for 17 year old Lynette Langley will be held this coming Monday. Lynette died in a fatal car crash on Tuesday, one day after she received her driver's license. The accident happened at the Highway 220 ramp to Highway 62 in Pleasant Garden. Lynette was very active in her youth group at CrossPoint Church in Greensboro.
