The WS / FC Board of Education has backed away from voting on possible furloughs for school system employees. Budget cuts from lawmakers in Raleigh will likely go deeper than expected. In Guilford County, officials are looking at cutting 100 school jobs and increasing class sizes.


In Raleigh, a budget proposal up for debate by members of the House could cut as much as $2 billion dollars from the state’s overall budget. Anything that relies on taxpayer money will likely be affected to bring the budget back under control.


Lawmakers in Raleigh voted to take away several high school end-of-course standardized tests that were required. Now, the House Education Committee has agreed to legislation requiring 11th graders to take (for FREE) the A-C-T if state funds are available. (Greensboro News/Record)


RECALL: Nearly 90-thousand young girl’s shirts and dresses are being recalled because of high levels of lead in jewelry that’s attached to the garments. With gas prices approaching $4 dollars a gallon, more people are parking and riding the bus. PART routes serving Davie and Yadkin counties will keep their bus service and not downsize to van service, due to an increase in PART participation. Greensboro has been named as one of the Top 10 cities in the US by Reader’s Digest in their search for the ‘Best in America’. The city will donate the $10,000 dollar prize money to local chapters of the United Way and the Salvation Army. (Greensboro News / Record)
Laura says that Christians need to decide whether they're going to judge God based on their circumstances…OR… quote, "are we going to choose to interpret our circumstances based on what we hold to be true about God?" The song "Blessings" is about Laura's faith being put to the test when her husband was hospitalized with a brain tumor back in 2006.
